Electronic Benefit Transfer Cards
The CNB Government Benefits Card is an innovative way to distribute government payments to unbanked recipients through Electronic Benefits Transfer of funds. The CNB Benefits Card allows your agency to utilize Direct Deposit, which is by far the cheapest and most efficient method to distribute cash aid. And the recipients do not need a checking account, which has been a big obstacle for government agencies that want to use Direct Deposit. With the CNB Benefits Card, your cash aid participants get a fully-branded Visa®, MasterCard® or Discover® debit card that they can use to pay bills, withdraw cash, transfer funds, and make purchases with cash back options.
“The CNB Government Benefits card is a cost-effective alternative to providing claims and public benefits with a paper check.”
Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows a recipient to authorize transfer of their government benefits from a Federal account to a retailer account to pay for products received. EBT is currently being used in many States to issue food stamp and other benefits. Recipients are not required to have a checking account.
